Yep, and you only need to get close once these days, as the USS Cole bombing showed. I would hope that in such a situation when combat is threatened, unlike when the Cole was in port, that our ships would have the ability to stay aggressive and on the offense. come to think of it, the Albemarle was "at port" also when it was hit by a small boat attack.

The thought of another Gulf of Tonkin "incident" comes to mind. Let's hope USG doesn't manufacture another pretext for invasion. On the other hand the Iranians may be just crazy enough to do something stupid.
