Excellent choice for the next model, Avery. I'd like to know more about the ship.
According to the Elder Dempster Lines “Ships of the Line” website, Auchmacoy (255 tons) served as a “Delta ports feeder service, in 1964 sold to Odunsi & Co, Lagos.” [www.lind.org.zw/ships/dempster_line/edships.htm] The Aberdeen Built Ships site notes the builder as Hall Russell and gives a slightly different history: “Steel motor coaster with cruiser stern, cargo battens not fitted. // Stranded at the mouth of the Ythan 9 February 1940. // By 1942-43 Register, listed as owned by Elder Dempster Lines Ltd. of Liverpool, but still registered in Aberdeen. // Carried cargoes of coal between ports in Nigeria. Dismantled and sunk off Lagos, last quarter of 1950.” [http://www.aberdeenships.com/single.asp?index=101482] Don |

Thanks all! Zathros, yes definitely a romantic at heart I tend to choose my designs mostly for their looks.
Yes, I model exclusively in Sketchup. I still plan to do a tutorial someday, but alas, I haven't made a lot of progress lately. I don't know a whole lot more than you, Don. A third site lists her as owned by Elder Dempster between 1940 and 1950, but lists her as a ferry. However it says that she served routes in west Africa which corresponds with what the Aberdeen site says. Possibly there is confusion between two different ships. Another possibility is that "Odunsi & Co" is the name of a scrap firm which broke up the wreck. http://www.rakaia.co.uk/downloads/el...er-summary.pdf |

Continuing on. Unfolding complete, exporting into Inkscape and final texturing underway.

I'd love to motor around the Ocean in a ship like that.

Me too! Little workboats like this really appeal to me. It'd be so cool to be on one of them, trading in the Med or something.
Page two completed. Onto numbering and instructions. I'm liking this part of the process more and more, as I get happier with the results. |

Looks great, Avery!
I'm really pleased that you are bringing these wonderful small merchant ships, tugs, and Coast Guard working vessels to life. Don |
