My Dads ship: the USS Simon Lake AS33

I'm designing a paper model of my dads ship the sub tender Simon Lake he was on it just after Vietnam and was a boiler tecnition. while in the navy my dad got born again and God changed his life and my Dad is now a pastor of a church in Wainwright Alaska with a wife three daughters (two enrolling in a Baptist collage) and a hard working son who are all faithful to him and to God. God is so good to those who are his children and serve him.
enough of our background. what i've got done so far is:
made the formers, the hull, the keel, and the main deck and this evening I'll start working on the super structure.

I was a Hull tech...welder on the Hunley, AS-31 while in the navy. I believe they have already scrapped her. Big ships with very large crews.

Amazing back ground! It's the way to go... GOD IS GREAT!

All of the best with your design! I know this is going to be a great model. I think your dad will be so proud!

Regards
Werner

I was gonna say I thought she was ported in Rota.

I spent a few years of my youth on subs and almost went to the Simon Lake but went to Hawaii instead.

Looking forward to your project. Those cranes will be quite an undertaking.

yes I'll try using wire for that and I forgot to tell that my dad is wanting me to make it out of soda pop cans (after I test build it with paper.) I'll probably use Dr. Pepper for the hull & Bargs root beer for the rest since those are close to the ships coloring.
