WoW! Super awesome ship :D If you want to do the Midway throughout it's life, you might try looking up the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola,FL. They had a huge display of the different carriers through the ages in scale models. Pretty neat from the pictures I've seen.

Excellent!

And I can't help asking, what is the status of that beautiful jeep you were scratchbuilding?

Thank you Don,

Well, I've taken a hiatus from August up until the last week or so... It's coming along very slowly... It was supposed to be the test bed for my real Jeep but my financier...er um I mean my fiancee :D gave me the go ahead to work on the real Jeep. So, now the model is going to have to play catch-up. So, having said that, regular updates should be coming up. I'm very honored that you remembered about it. Again, thank you!

Thanks for the update. I look forward to seeing shots of the 12" = 1' scale version in the "Other things . . . " section!

I actually started the build in June. Laid the keel and left it set for a couple weeks. I worked on it stead through out July and August. Put it on the shelf and just got it back down about a week and a half ago. So, all in all about 3 months. Now bear in mind, at the height of the build I was getting into trouble for not coming to bed.

I thought the deck looked a little sparse... So I had to add some crew and some equipment.

Edit: I figured I should post something that gives a reference to scale. So (pardon the pun) how about a "quarter deck"? :D

(Ignoring the quarter pun) Nice build. I like the addition of sailors. Where are the purple ones? Pretty quick build too. Good clean work.

This is excellent work for a scratch build.

What did you use for plans? Floating Dry Dock?

Are the aircraft scratch designs too? or are they reduced kits, maybe with some modifications?

Brilliant work either way. I was on the Midway back in February of this year. I didn't have near the time I would have liked to explore more. Maybe next time I'll board her without the Mrs.
