Absolutely gorgeous, Jan!!

You've come a long way in building this remarkable hull, and we are now all looking forward to seeing you add the masting and spars along with the rigging!!

What a treat!! Thank you so very much for taking the time to post photos of your progress on the beautiful ship!

Cheers!
Jim

Even as a hulk it's looking wonderful - I can't wait to see what you do with the masts and rigging

Hello Jan,
All the guilding and mold work comes together to give this a museum look.
I'm looking forward to learning some things about sailing ship rigging.

Hulk? Most model ships built to this point and stopped were known as dockyard models! Some if not most also showed frames with open planking either in part or completely unplanked. They were built to demonstrate for either the admiralty or royalty or both. Some allthough very few were built with stub masts. This is without any question one of the best paper ship model build, paper plastic or wood i have ever seen! Well done. Not long ago i built a Heller "Victory". I planned on doing a Soleil Royale in wood, untill i saw the plans for it!!!!!!!

When you make the masts, please describe your method and materials.

I´ve just started with masts

I made masts very easy - I´m using maple bars, cut em to necessary lenght ( with aditional lenght for fixing, if necesarry ) fix them to hand drill and using sandpaper I form them to necessary dimensions. I´m impregning them with anilin water colors. Stumps are already glued in, bowsprit too. I let it to dry for several days and I´m going to do my " belowed " work - to produce the deadeyes

The ship is now 80 cm long - it is the final lenght.
Progress continues.

Jan

Jan love to see her going vertical, looks great, glueing the masts in is a good idea (if you can get them straight which they do look) so the stanging rigging doesn't pull them off line as easy... She will be about how tall?
