Hi there!
Jan! This looks so beautiful! The turrets really give this vessel that extra character! And with your detailed work you let this ship look real! I really look forward to see your progress! @ Jim: I attached a picture of how this foil looks like when you buy it (ca. 68cm x 150cm). This one is from Germany (import for Finland), but I don't really think they look different in the States. Here it is called "Decorative Film". It has even 3 years of warranty! They come in different colors and patterns: different woods, marmor and stone, or even lether-like pattern. Very useful not only for the kitchen cup-boards! Rgds, Radek

Ah, so that's the foil, eh?
Well, you are certainly making superb use of this material! I love the way paper modelers are always finding new materials to use in their builds...very creative! Making superb progress, Jan! She looks brilliant! Cheers! Jim |

For any Brits following this thread
Remember Blue Peter? It's amazing what can be done with "sticky-back plastic"! (And it lasts; I've got a table I made at school which is finished with that stuff which makes it close to 50 years old).

I think it is Gil, Jan's friend Doris uses the same thing in her ships and the method has been explained in her threads aswell.

Chris,
Come on over to the lighter side! Honestly, I never thought that building a full hull ship would be so satisfying. We have so much talent here on the forum that the likes of you and I can't help completing something that's almost ok! (I smell the smoke of charred cardboard from the laser cutter as it cuts out bulkheads for L'Unite or the like). That was my attempt at coercion through fortune telling Jan, I'm sorry for straying off topic from your wonderful ship but converting Chris is a worthwhile cause
