Rigging: I recently came across an American product called EZline - elastic, very thin, looks great for rigging. For more information see my site zeistbouwplaten.nl, homepage/new. Of course you can also google them.

I must apologise first been slack in posting updates so thanks your kind responses. Second for Reorganising my photos in photo bucket into albums so the above posts photos have disappeared, so will post the pictures here again as I can't go back and re-edit.
Fred I used standard black sewing thread the rigging lines.

That completes the missing photos from the last two posts. So let's continue with some new pictures. I should have done this before I started adding the superstructure to the ships hull, and that is 4 pegs added to the base of the hull to act as locating luggs. I have drilled some holes for strips of wood to these will be fixed to the shelf that the ship will finally sit on to hold it in place. The other two will go on a strip of card from the packing case that I can use to transport ship on to model shows. The lifeboats painted and ready to be installed on the ship I used a brown paper bag to make the tarpaulin covers, and added some rudders. And finally lifeboats installed on the ship. sadly that is the end of the build. Next post will be of the completed ship. I hope you enjoyed watching me build it on and off the last couple of years as I have building it. It might be an expensive model and fairly large but is well worth it and I'd recommend it to anyone and is not as hard as it looks.

Pictures of the completed model taken in the room where I do my modelling.
I added an old model I made the micro model cattle wagon that is matching the same scale as the ship being lowered into one of the holds. unfortunately this was a better idea than it was in reality the lorry stays relatively level for a couple of hours, and then decides that it is front heavy, and then it's back heavy.

Some more pictures taken downstairs where the model is going to live. Unfortunately the room was a bit dark so they aren't that clear they do show the ship from above. After this I did manage to manoeuver the ship outside on a nice sunny day so show those pictures in a further post.

Final set completed pictures taken outside a nice sunny day beginning of October.
That's all. Hopefully she will be going to the Milton Keynes model show next year. If you'd like to see her in the flesh.

MAN OHHH MAN !!!!!! It's totally amazing. I'm enjoying looking at each of your photos, picking out every last detail, there are lots of them. Guess I'll need to look some more. Maybe I should just go back and save all the photos in a folder.
I may just have to bite the bullit on this one and buy it. Not that I'd ever build it, not after seeing yours and the work that went into it. But just to have it in my collection, and knowing I could if I wanted to. Once again it's beautiful. A work of art that should be in a museuem. Thanks for sharing it with us. |
