I am working on the deck fittings of the bow. I have an anchor and chain that just needs blackening and mounting.) I have the SD14 book and I liked the paint job of the SERRA AZUL, for some reason. The bulk of the painting is done and i'm now adding the "fiddly bits" (as I've seen it expressed before). Things are progressing.
I keep a log of time and parts (I'm currently around 175 hours of work and around 11 individuals pieces. This is, mind you, just the bow section.) I will post a more through breakdown once I'm done. Perhaps I will also post some photos, but it's nothing special compared to what I have seen of other's work.

Thanks to all for the latest conversation on this beast. Thanks for the answers to my questions and the continuing conversation.

Romanmodels (David?): I see your engine and mention of ukpapermodelers. I'm always looking for resources and am intrigued by your plan for the engine. Is there a link for the noted resources? I did a quick search and came up empty.

Hi Atlpetrel.
Romanmodels has generously offered to make his work available when he has time.
This is all I can find of the real life engine. https://www.flickr.com/photos/twm_ne...7647275967973/
Marko found a kit of an appropriate engine for his build. Have a look at his thread.

I'd be interested to see your progress.

Buttercup I couldn't find any engine pictures either so I based my engine on the two pictures in the front of John Lingwood's book and also from the general arrangement drawing towards the back of the book this shows the engine in profile and plan.
On with the pictures.

Thanks for reposting your wonderful images, very helpful. I've been distracted by the real world too. Hopefully you've given everyone their SD-14 fix. I'll hopefully be updating my build soon. I did find some engine room pictures that maybe of interest.
Another SD14 cargo ship
