All decked out...

Both decks have now been installed. I have replaced all of the 2D deck hatches with 3D...an eye-straining project. .

Next up: the hangar and the upper structure.

Note to self: gotta do something about those torpedo tube doors, next time.....

Hangar Assembly ( Excerpts from my Build Log)

The basic hangar assembly is composed of 3 parts: the aircraft track (#64), the inner (printed) hangar liner (#63) and the outer hangar cover (#62).

The aircraft track (64) needs to be laminated to a piece of 1.0 mm cardboard.

The inner hangar liner (63) needs to be smoothly rolled into a tube of diameter 21 mm. PUT THE JOINT TO THE TOP!! The outer hangar shell (62) needs to be rolled into a tube of diameter 23 mm. PUT THE JOINT of 62 TO THE BOTTOM!! I used steam, dowels,an old shower curtain rod and patience to roll these tubes....

MTF

What? No interior lights? Just joking! That's some work to do! I hate rolling tubes for sure.

Great Minds Think Alike!!

Chuck: You and I are REALLY on the same page! a couple of "grain of wheat" bulbs or LEDs would really make this hangar COOL! The liner is printed with detail.... If/When I rebuild this in 1:160, I will certainly incorporate this feature!!!

It is p*****g with rain here today, so I am going to work on sheathing the upper part of the hull.

Sheathing the Hull

Because I doubled the thickness of the stock on the pieces for the upper section of the hull, the incorporated glue tabs were basically of no use. I removed them, opting instead to use joining strips at the back to join the 3 pieces into one long strip.

This was installed, working from the bow backward.

Next: Upper Works
