That's a great glue Mike, thanks for the demostration. I have to try to find it somewhere in Europe.

And your sub, what can I say that hasn't been said already. I love the periscope action.

Beautiful submarine.
You have produced some very attractive detail with the rigging, guns, etc.
Congratulations!

Thanks Mike, I appreciate the kind words...

When I put on the Saddle tanks I left the skeleton of framework out as I found it too tedious to fool with. Instead I strip glued the skins into a single unit and set the curve, I then glued this onto the top edge of the hull. Then I used small strips of paper with super glue gel on them and ran them along the bottom edge of the saddle and tacked into position. I then moved along the entire edge to facilitate the gluing of the entire tank to the hull. This form holds it shape very well without the framework and looks good in the end. I try to look outside the box when building....

Great job. I particularly admire the guns and the antennas.
Having just almost finished this one myself I have not yet nerved up to do the light guns.
Maybe yours will inspire me.

Thanks Jim. I did all the guns mutiple times before I was happy with them. I pretty much stayed with Kooliks design as he did it right the first time. I ended up with copper wire soldered for the shoulder rests and painted. Used a drill bit to form the curve...

Long time no Sea. Thought you were out of service there for awhile. Glad you stopped in to say Hi. Yes zip dry does give you some room for error. Well it gives you a ton of room for errors. I love the stuff, however I use about three different glues in everyday building. Thanks for dropping by Chris, always a pleasure to hear from you.

I laminated the decks to Balsa Wood and then used balsa strips to provide a surface to straighten out the hull between formers. I still did not like the result. So I opened up Adobe Illustrator and took all the tops of the hull wraps and turned them into two continuous strips and laminated them over the top of the existing hull. This gave me a chance to cover up the edges of the deck balsa and at the same time cleaned up a lot of little things that were bothering me in regards to the deck to hull junction. I also used my phone to level the decks. I used a Dremel sanding drum to judicially remove fine amounts of former's until the decks read level from front to back.

This is the bottom of the deck plate with straightener's set up between former's.

Checking level with Smartphone App.

Making sure both ends are aligned the same.

Point of view of the screen , very accurate.

Here is the page layout of the Illustrator reassembly of the top edges of the Hull. This gives me a two part continuous strip which I used to overlay the edges of the balsa deck I increased the scale by 1% and stretched it in the Vertical. About three reprints and some fudging to get the exact fit I wanted.
