IJN KIJI (Answer)

Hello everyone,
I have started to build this ship almost a year ago. I decided to make it with so many details and additions as I can. So, I bought additional laser-cut parts from the publisher and metal canons, and prepare myself for the work

First Part- the hull.
I covered it with the stripes which should resemble the metal reinforcements of the hull and after that made portholes...

Next I engraved the deck...

...and painted the hull

After that stage I added brown painted stripes which should resemble linoleum covering.

Second Part- the details

For next few months I was working on ship details. At that time I was waiting for the new spray-gun so I worked without painting the assembled parts.

The funnel

Rear wheelhouse

Main cannons

Command centre

Life boats

Deck parts

Third Part - painting

When I finally got my hands on the spray-gun I started painting. Most of the parts were ready so it was the most enjoyable for me because the building of the model became very fast.

First I painted the main guns then the rest of the parts

After that, I glued them onto the hull. I decided to add rust so the ship could look more alive.

Details:

This is how the ship looks today. I hope next week I will manage to upgrade it

Fine work on this IJN ship. I enjoyed seeing how you used brass wire for many of the small details.

Thank you Don. Brass wire is the best for that kind of things. I am still working on cleaner gluing of the parts.

Hello,

Since my last entry I have managed to add motorboats and small parts on the deck.

Excellent work on the details! The model looks very realistic and portrays Kiji very well.

Hello,

My work on Kiji kit is almost finished. Recently, I added the torpedo luncher and AA gun in the middle of the hull.

I have also added the last rescue boat.

Till the next time
