No need for magnifyers later on when i do the fitting out i will need them. the build si going smooth no fit problems as of yet like that of my Mauretyania it is building itself. for the update I have constructed the midships deckhouse and stacks still doing some touch up here and there starting to look like the old Battleship Maine, Perhaps Captain Sigsbee will lend me a hand on the build. By this evening I will have all the subassemblies done and the time cosumeing will be the home made parts to the kit These wil be all made by hand I would,nt have it no other way here is the update shots for now more this evening.

Sub assemblies comopleted

Ahoy
This will be the last update for day Save some work tomorrow. as to the update report, I concludsed all the sub assemblies from now on everything will be hand made. As small as this model is it opens doors for me to do her justice. As some detail parts i made from scratch are thye bow searchlight platform and anchor davits. Along with the 35 pouinders gun mounts on the forecastle house. I turned a peice of dowling for the foremast and made the crowsnest and their supports. The bridge was constructed useing the kits parts. The secondary pounders were turned from brass rod the turrets were made from the kits parts 4 pieces each complete the assembly. Stack caseings and stacks were made from the kit and installed. Lastly I mixed up a batch of Buff paint by adding a touch of yellow tan and small touch of orange. useing Polly S water based paints thyank heavens for the glossy cardstock that this kit was printed from the instructions call for painting. I made the Buff wash and applied the buff wash on the previeous colored parts. Makeing very certain that all of the printing detail is not painted over. As of now I knocked off ships work and ready for liberty call My first mate Ruthie bought me a 12 pack of Anchor Steam Beer. I think I will slugg down a few tonite and make certain that the cuban rebels dont sabatage my Maine. Here is the update for the day.

As to the last update i went and opened up the forward casement and all the printing of the gun shutters have been replaced useing card styock i added the two hause lips on the port side of the bow. I constructed and installed the wire wheel in front of the search light platform. on trhe midships house i added all the detail and eleminated printing giving the kit a 3d look. On the well deck forward of the superstructure i made vents useing brass eyelits. got more to go before they are fitted out. I airbrushed the intire surfaces that has Buff on it scince the printing will be replaced no harm done. Here is the update for thye night now its time to grabb a beer.

fitting out

ahoy
The build continues, as for the update doing more fitting out of the deck furniture and sundries. Have the two 40 pounders on the forcastle deck house installed i made some mooring bits next the mainmast. I turned 3 inch secondary casement gtu8n and installed same in the casement compartment. I added the vegtable lockers stores next to the midships superstricture the boat cranes were made and installed. I made trhe port side anchor and rebuilt the billboard for the anchor. the anchors on the main werent black they were white so i gave the anchor a wash of blak then later i will give it a wash of off white. doing some touch up here and there as I go i have tons of work left on this small model the old eyeballs are still holding up good exercise for the eyes for sure. next will be the funnels and boat cradels.
