My camera shots look like the ones you replaced ... the main reason I haven't posted pics of anything I've made. Excellent model. I'm amazed at how fluent you are in various materials. Thanks for letting us tag along.

Thumbs up U.S.S. MAINE Finished

Ahoy
The old spanish American Battleship U.S.S. MAINE is now completed. As to the build I have 78 hours into this tiny build My eyeballs are still in good shape I am surprised I think building small models is good for your eyes.either that or the good lord provided me with a good set of peepers. Looking at thye model not bad for a kit that is over 44 years old and dont exist anywhere.

The Kit

The kit is junk only a few parts can be used as a basis like the hull, decki, superstructure and stacks. everything else has to be scuttled. another isue in the kit I disapprove of is the clear glossy mylar on the card stock it makes folds and tubeing rough to preform parts to their construction. The kit is more then half scratch built I dont mind this at all My first mate Ruthie wants it on top of the TV. There are alot of inacuracies to the kit but in overall perspective it represents the Maine. Tonight i will post a finuish up build that needs to be done, she is talking to me as I am glareing at her. The kit was enjoyable to build it kept me busy on the photos below you will see Captain Sigsbee on the bridge wing looking for mines there are node. The boat boom is swayed out in extended position to acominate the boarding crew there is a jacobs ladded comeing down from the boat boom. On top of the boat boom is a sailor going aboard no quarterdeck watch here. There is a crew member in the jolly boat waiting his turn to come aboard No morro castle perhapsw next time I will add that feature but for now here she is.

Hardy thank you

I would love to thank everyone here on the forum that has viewed and replied to my U.S.S. MAINE I am Honered.

Ahoy Grandson Peter
thank you for your reply on the Maine alot of work I put into this little Gem but its worth it. I have her in the plexi glass dust cover on top of our Tv set. My Daughter came over and saw it on the tellevision and she said it is the smallest model i have ever built. I use to build 1/1200 scale wooden ship models when i was young. I had a wargame set I got from Prestons model and supple out of Bamburg Germany Still have the wargame set but the fleet I built is gone from years past. Anyway Thanks grandson for your reply on Captain Sigsbee,s Maine.

REMEMBER THE MAINE
