Uss Ashtabula A0-51 1/8th scale
Ahoy
Every sailor has to have a model of his ship he served on. This is a finishe upper build that has been calling on me. I should have this done in a couiple good days. I served on this ship from 1961 through 1965. she is the cimmeron class oiler T3-SE A2 Maritme commisioned hull her maritime name was the Esso Raliegh, built a Kearney New Jersey 1940 I built this from, builder plans that were aboard ship I had permission to obtain a copy from damage controll deppartment so some day I can build a model of her. Ther construction is the same as I done on the Lurline cardfstock light cardboard and paper also wood dowling and wire for the railiongs. she is 78 inch,s long 5 inch,s shorter then My Lurline. I got get her done as soon as I finish her up i will have her mounted on our wall in the living room and I will get the Lurline finished up too. Being a sailor on a fleet oiler is tedious work you are up all night and pretty much of the day durring under way replenishment you were pretty busy handling shot lines and manning the winch,s that handel the clew lines in the fueling probes. before you pull in port you have to muck out the tanks JP5 and crude oil your down in the bilges for 12 hours and your off 12 hours. The time you climb out of the cargo tanks your high as a kite and you will get heck of a headache made in hell. for the last 2 years I got out of being rig captain the ioldman found out i played the steel guitar at thye officers club in subic bay he elected me to to intertain the next unrep. Here is my fleet oiler fellas. Boats

Are you a man or a superhero? Truly extraordinary, this your new model.
Certainly you must have a huge house to store all these models . I have no words to tell you how bravo you are. Marco
