Hello all and sorry for the delay in updating but it's been a rather busy week and didn't get much done.
Here are a couple of pictures, one is the first 40mm mount and the other shows the 01 level 20mm and other details: That's it for now. Thanks all.

Hello all.
Saturday was a rather rainy windy and generally nasty day so nothing better than some paper modeling to pass the time. I finished up the other 2 aft 40mm canons: Then I went to work on the self designed hedgehog mount: The parts: Together: In place: Well that's it for now, thanks to all that are following.

That is a great model, I stumbled across this site while researching the USS PCE-844 my grandfather served on this ship. he just got back from the Honor flight for ww2 vets, I wasn't able to greet him like some of my family could. I thought I would find pictures and stories and put together something for him, but this vessel is not easy to find much about.. I found all of the pictures i could, but I saw your model and just had to make an account just to say she is beautiful, Is there a way I could get the plans you used? this would just be the icing on the cake having that model. I don't know the proper protical for modelers i am not one, so i hope my post wasn't out of line.
thanks, Jason |

Hello Jason, and thanks for the comments.
I don't feel the request is out of line, but the model is a modification of another designer's model that I received permission to change for my use, but not to give away. I haven't had much time to work on the model in the past few months due to an illness in the family and I am the primary care giver. If I ever can finish it, and Roman from Digital Navy ok's it, I'd be happy to pass a copy on to you. I'm retired Navy myself. Fair winds and following seas to you and your grandfather.

This may be an old thread, but at Hullnumber.com I added my father, Raymond Eisenhardt Jr., as a crewmember of the 899 Lamar at Guam in late 1945. Glad to see another crewmember here.

U.s.s. Lamar
I trained on the U.S.S. Lamar in 1969. The Lamar was transferred to the Coast Guard in in 1965 and used as a training ship. U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Lamar WTR 899 out of Monterey, CA. I was amount the last to be trained as she was scraped in Sept 1969. I remember being told that she was a destroyer escort but have learned this week that she was a PCE.

On the LAMAR
The small bridge looks very much like some wartime DEs. Easy to make a mistake. I found a crew picture from 1945 when the 899 was at Guam, Apra Harbor and posted it at Hullnumber-dot-com. Again, glad somebody remembers the Lamar.
