Small model of a big Piece - Titanic

After finishing my large Titanic model (and some other models) I had some scrap material, and I decided to add another model to my collection.

This is a first try in scrapbuilding the part, some modifications have to be made, also the back of this piece needs some modelling.

This is the actual part on the bottom of the ocean, it was raised in 1998:

I had read this topic: Rivets! Rivets! about modelling rivets, but perhaps someone knows an easier or simpeler way to model rivets?

Jerry

Dear Jerry:
You need to find a friend who is a diabetic, Ask to have some of their used siranges. Mix acrilic paint and thick Tacky Glue load from the back with the plunger. Practice for the size of the rivits. look at my steam punk egg. I had all the paint glue and stuff in the picture.
Try it you will like it,
MILES
I use BD 50unit 31guage needles

Rivets!!

I can never make rivets, I never get them to look even or correctly spaced, much less make them look reasonably good or realistic. BUT, take a look at Archer transfers/decals-they make a lot of stuff for surface detailing. Several scales, and it has helped me a lot, I feel soooo much better with my projects. And that is a great looking model you have there, thanks for the hard work!

Thanks for the comments so far.
I have been at a small fair during the Easter Weekend where my small papermodels were on display. I also brought this piece along for building. I also made a 2nd model of this piece, but it didn't look as good as this, so I decided to continue building this piece instead of the 2nd.

Here's it's backside:

And this is the actual piece:

Well I decided to leave the rivets for what they were and continued the model.

Here's the end result;

Applying the brown paint:

and giving it it's final colors:

Not the way I intended it to be, but it looks nice.. perhaps I'll give it anohter try in painting it..
