Hello Glen,
That must be a great technique, because the barrels look excellent.

Thanks Mike!
Today built a boat, using the old plug of sculpy from Tuft boats, sanded a bit
to improve some shape issues I thought I might improve, steps here, with strips across for ribs, then 2 layer of planking, the first was sanded and painted to avoid showing ribs through, then second over that. pulled from plug, painted, details with strip of card for seats to rest on, floorboards and some detail that I though looked better, took pretty much the whole day, but not going to have any time to work on this for the next week or longer, so wanted to finish it up, but also was fun to make...

I'm glad you found it interesting Leif You show so much instruction in your threads has inspired me to show things that may be of some use for someone if they would like to make something like this, I know there are not so many ship threads of this type, but some may be planning ones and this method is a take off from how some wood modelers like to make their boats, especially if you need to make a few similar ones of this scale. This plug has made 3 useful boats now, and will probably make at least one more. The trick is to not have the ribs show through (always the issue it seems), the sealing of the first layer after a bit of light sanding worked well on this one.

That's quite a technique with the boat glen.
It looks like you are really building it plank by plank.
Certainly gives it an authentic appearance.
