Looks good in the reboot so far.

I have Chapelle's The Search For Speed Under Sail 1700-1855. Some interesting reading with many plans for ships.

That is where the plan for this ship is, Doug, I looked it up page 288. There are lots of ship plans, very kind of Chapelle to include them. Some are harder to work from than others this one doesn't have a rigging or sail plan but the spar dimensions are included ...my old copy doesn't have the dust cover, great books. The James Tuft came from his American Sailing Ships

Just trying to get the chainplates going, finally set on this plan for them I like, used soft brass wire and flattened to look like a strap of iron they would likely be. Added some new trim, I can’t move forward on rigging until decide if staying with the bulwark details I did long while ago, to attach the canon the spacing is not right for the timber ends on the inside bulwarks...big job to repair that though. Update to see where this ship is presently

Thanks man I think card is very well suited to simulate the planking, maybe better than wood in some ways.

There were a few things that have been bothering me on this one, in order to move ahead I hoped to improve some of those areas. Some things have to be done in order, as you can't easily change them as you block access with the rigging. First to rework the bulwarks i removed the stantions to put better ones on, painted darker color and brighter. While doing this I tried to even up the long belaying pin rail, and since have sanded it and will repaint it, can mark the locations for the bulwark stantions. Working to even up the gun ports too and then will paint them again. This was holding me back before from detailing the forward parts of the deck. (as need to be able to put the forward two guns in place before I can prepare the lower foremast). Relaxing work so far, nice do a little bit on this ship.

By the way, this beautiful painting of the Ann McKim although not a period piece the colors used are wonderful to my eye ( she had no power the stack is from the side wheel tug) I think the bowsprit slightly different from the Chapelle drawings but interesting interpretation of some details....

Your hull nicely replicates the image in the painting.
That is a lovely painting with the light of sunset (or sunrise) reflecting on the sails.

Thanks Mike Happy to move ahead a bit on this ship, I thought that was a cool painting always nice to see interpretations of a ship before photography was available most vessels had little if any documentation..this one was famous in her day.

With some strips of heavy card (thin artboard) I've been redoing the bulwark timbers, and it's going pretty well and some touch up work to do after they're all in still is a nice improvement. (Happy holidays to everybody)
