Slight delay here - could not find Matt Acrylic Varnish - until I thought yesterday to try an art shop. Bought some really high class stuff for a fraction of the price I would have paid in a Hobby Shop!

Roll up the weekend!

Ok – finished the boat off last weekend! The new varnish worked a charm - really good quality, with no brush strokes at all! Rowney.

Here are some pictures of the finished item.

Next step will be to start with the canal lock that comes with the kit – but am going to take a bit of a rest on this front for the moment……..

Thanks Doug and Tim!

I will start the lock but will only do this at weekends. That's why the narrow boat took so long. I get home too late in the evening during the week to model - 7.30 - 8.00 pm is the usual time.

I saw many of those narrow boats this WE during my travel in London (Great WE !!!). They saw them near Camden Maket and Regent's park.

Try to fit Wales in next time you're over Pat. From Llangollen you can go for a narrowboat ride down the Dee valley and across the Pontcysyllte aqueduct, or if you prefer you can go up the valley on a Horse-drawn barge.

The Llangollen canal system is unusual in the fact that it was primarily built to supply water into the British Midlands Canal system. It was of course used by 'Trader' narrowboats, but it has always been more of a tourist day trip attraction.

There's also a 'Live Steam' full guage Railway running up the valley, should such things excite you. Come in Mid-Summer though ... It rains a lot in Wales.

Johnny.

John - I am planning a holiday in UK later in the year. This sounds nice.

Can I contact you closer to the date for some more advice?

Kevin, I have been following your thread and am really impressed with the model you have completed. Your canal boats are much more colorful than ours were ( Erie Canal ). Your narrow boat is stunning and well done. Thanks for posting as it has stimulated me to get back to my project which has been dormant for far too long. John

Anytime mate. We have a single bed and a double bunk in a spare room if you should need them, but give me fair warning on that.

We are located centrally in North Wales ... ie: Most tourist attractions are within 30 to 40 miles, but we are pretty much 10 miles away from anywhere of major interest. Nearest Town = 10 miles, Nearest Pub = 3 miles, but we do still have a Post Office/Shop and a Cafe.

Johnny.
