Thanks all for the kind words!
Between the clipper style bow and the swept-back funnel she really looks graceful...almost too pretty to be a warship!! Cold front due in a couple of hours, hopefully it will cool things off a bit!! russ...

That is a nice rendition of one of those complex IJN funnel assemblies. It seems the Japanese designers were never satisfied making the funnel works go straight up. Mike |

The funnels were trunked like that to keep hot gases as far away from the bridge as possible.
This is a very nice build.

WOW!
Excellent work so far on this beauty from Gremir Models. I have it in my stash of ship models from Michael to get built someday. I am still plodding along on the Nagatsuki which is about a third of the size of this one. It will be nice to have this online as a reference to consult when I start working on mine.

Very nice work. I love building ships but my last one darn near killed me. I built the Osablya fro Digital and went at it like a bull in heat. Aggrivated my disability and it layed me up for over a year. I will stick to admiring the work of others from now on when it comes to models requiring a very steady hand. These more modern battleships have soooo many guns that I would lose interest after the first dozen.

Work progresses...
I was on vacation last week in Maryland and Northern Virginia. I visited 6 battlefields, 1 amusement park and too many historic houses to count!
I've been working on the bridge. The fit of the components continues to be excellent. There are many complex shapes...seems much different than the slab-sided appearance of US cruisers! I'm planning on starting Salt Lake City in a few weeks. I think it will be interesting to see the two cruiser designs side by side. russ...

Finally up to the bridge windows!
Work continues...currently trying to figure out the bridge roof.
I recently bought a new computer. What a pain trying to get all the files & programs onto the new computer! Uploading PIX used to be so easy...not now!

That is a very good looking superstructure.
Worth the effort you put into uploading them. Mike |
