Mchale's Edmund Fitzgerald test build

Recently, saw a thread seeking of Mchale's intent to release potentialy 2 models this Nov. remembering the cargo ship the Edmund Fitzgerald. So, when he asked for beta testers, I immediately jumped at the chance, since Ihave always been fond of this craft since the song by Gordon Lightfoot was released back in the '70's.

Also, this is his FIRST attempt at designing a model and with even the many sites and drawings and photos we have found, it is a rather daunting task at best. So far the parts for the hull have been made up and printed out. Along the way, I've been providing feedback and possible ideas and suggestions to help refine the model. Below are the images of the hull pieces and the progress of the build so far.

I also am playing around with some ideas of my own, after mentioning this to Mike, about trying to work up a 3d model and follow-up design for use in Pep. This will take me some time as for the most part, I'm still learning using Sketchup and also, getting things to work right in Pep from another program.

The second 2 pics are of the back half of the hull. We discovered the name needs to be adjusted, but that is what we're doing, ironing out the bugs!

Next post will be the other half and the top section together.
