Micro-Scale Cannons
Incredible work, Ray!
At this extremely minute scale. Your eyes must be those of a hawk or eagle. Simply amazing. Very fine photos, too. Thanks for sharing! Bengt |

Fine wok, Ray, especially at such a small scale. Love the printout of the sails.

Cami, Don, Bengt, Joe, thank you so much! I find it both creatively satisfying
and an advancement of my skills to tackle something I have never done, and come up with creative ways to accomplish it. @Hudsonduster -Hahahahahahaa......No.

Just some big parts
For me anyway. Not alot of progress in the last few days. Finished layering the inside of the hull, deck, aft deck, and the aft end of the ship.
Today I started to piece together the main deck and one side of the hull.

I thinketh there be seas in our future
Finally got the hull and deck massaged into position, to where it
is starting to resemble a ship! The pictures, of course, provide me with a good closeup of small white spots I missed in the edge coloring, and areas to touch up with a little glue. Lots of layering done. Now I have a support structure to work on the ladder wells, and put some krystal kleer into those open windows! The foredeck has another piece that gets placed onto it. In preparation for that, I painted the area where the windows will be with gray paint to avoid the white back area.

Not rikely.
Looking really good, Ray! Can't wait to see more. That foredeck is normally referred to as the forecastle or for'csle. Cheers! Jim |

Thanks Jim! While I was typing, I couldn't remember forecastle, and didn't
want to put in something completely wrong, so I just went with the easy way. The forecastle is on, detailing is in progress!

Ups and downs
To those who have watched, sorry for the delay in updates. R/L has been really busy
(I thought retirement would slow me down!). Been working on greeblies (sp?) so nothing big. I do have the ladders going to the lower decks done, and while you cannot see them, I blocked off the sides underneath the deck to prevent the "see through" effect. Also, done in the last few days, the main deck stairs. So the only other stairs to do will be the mizzen deck stairs. In this photo, two sets of stairs as they are printed. I wanted a little more "authentic" look to the stairs, so I cut out the parts and made individual steps. Here, the stairs are assembled, and painted, but not yet matched to the deck color. As I have conflicting references concerning the style of handrails, I just picked what looked good to me. And finally, the stairs to the forecastle, and the stairs to the mizzen deck, installed and color matched ( I hope ) to the main deck. With a little luck, and love from the family, I would like this to be finished in time for the IPMC next weekend, but it will be close!
