Looking for the CSS Mississippi
I'd like to build a card model of the CSS Mississippi.
She had a very short life after the fall of New Orleans to the union forces. She was launched one day and burned the next to keep her out of the hands of the advancing enemy. Anyone know if their are any card models of her? CSS Mississippi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Thanks ~ Rich |

Hello,
I am working on a 1/250 scale of the CSS Mississippi. In ecardmodels you will already find the CSS Louisiana. 1/250 C.S.S. Louisiana Ironclad Paper Model - ECardmodels.com Shop - Downloadable models and crafts CT

Rich,
That model of the Louisiana is wrong. The plan has been published many times, but is not Louisiana. It may have been a projected IC but I cannot find any authority for it. Corey has my plans for the ship and has worked up and sent me a preliminary kit, which I have built. I have also constructed a 1/250 model of the CSS Mississippi to the plans of William Geoghehan, but this is also wrong, although it looks great, which is why I built it. I will add photo's in a while. |

CSS Louisiana.
Rich,
I've just noticed that Corey's kit fro my plan is available from Ecardmodels.com. The one I was referring to is coloured bright blue ( also wrong). but don't let me put you off purchasing it, as I said it may well turn out to have been a projected vessel . I have but not done anything with it yet. it's just one more of the dozen or so on my to do list. |

CSS Mississippi by William Geogehan
Rich,
Here is the plan I mentioned. detailing additions are mine. This plan has been published several times, but is not correct. However it does make a very good model, here is mine to 1/250 scale. The plan that Corey is working to has been drawn up after many years of research by many people |

CSS Louisiana.
Rich,
Here is the incorrect plan as published in McBrides "Confederate Ironclads", and some photos of Corey's kit from Ecardmodels. Chris now has both versions for sale on his site. |

Awesome build John! I ran into a temporary problem with the Mississippi, it is on my external hard drive that my 20yo now has. She was backing up he computer and borrowed it. No problem, not like she wiped out my stored stuff, I just need to get it back from her to continue on with the modeling!

Hi Corey,
had those photos ready to send you ,then my laptop decided not to talk to the internet. there was so much wrong with and it was4 years old. it I went and bought a new one, didn't really want the expense on top of all the moving costs, but needs must. I haven't done anything with the new info on Confederate turrets, that's the next job, just about to down load Patrick Henry. |
