Tapered brass clockmakers pins
When looking for suitable materials for the secondary gun barrels of JSC's 1:250 HMS Dreadnought, I bought some tapered brass clockmakers pins (1.40 increasing to 1.75 mm dia. , and 15 mm long) as supplied by M-P UK clockmakers suppliers. They do other diameters as well and you get a bag of about 100 for a few pounds. Guarranteed exact uniformity of gun barrels!

Wow, thanks for the link. These are ideal for small scale or small calibur barrels. Very good replacements for paper rolled barrels.
