HMS Dreadnaught---1:700
Thought I would give the Digital Navy's Dreadnaught a try although I must say that the scale will be a real challenge.
Here is the start of the hull and the beginning of the superstructure...despite my efforts, I seem to have gotten a little bow in the main hull. Mike |

I know what you mean, I built their Ambrose but scaled it up. It was just too small fo me. Every once in awhile I build one of Oliver Bizers models just to keep my skill levels up. His are simple but challenging. Looking forward to seeing this finished. I considered building her as well. Maybe you will inspire me.

I have this one but have not tried it yet. Watching to see! Maybe you will give me hope.

Tim and Corey...thanks for the encouragement...if I get through this...I'm sure that you are able to.
Update for the dreadnaught: The first photo shows the addition of the lower superstructure with one gun in place. Photo 2 is one of the guns with a penny for comparison…gad, is it small!!! Photo 3 is the beginning of the next part of the superstructure. Mike |

Yeah, now that is small. Good job. I would be blind after that. Eyes aren'twhat they used to be and my meds don't help either. Sometimes I have to stare at it fo a minute just to get my eyes to focus. I should start using a magnifier. A lot of guys do I just never got one.

Thanks Tim, pretty small and I do use a magnifier.
More progress on the superstruture. The guns on the lower level have to be in place before the next level is added. Mike |

Hi Mike,
I am also building this kit and I must say, you are doing a fine job. I have just finished cutting all those angular holes in the boat deck, a bit of a chore, but well worth the effort. I am having problems making all those 12 pounder mounts, they are just too small! so I am looking at alternatives for these. good to see another build of this super little kit. All the best and happy modelling Bernie |

Bernie,
Thanks for looking in. Not only are they so small, they are numerous...five at the stern alone. I look forward to seeing your solution to the problem. I saw your build. Things look nice and clean. Mike |

More progress on the Dreadnaught although I am fast approaching the masting which I’m not sure how to handle. I guess when the time comes…I’ll have to figure out something.
Photo 1 shows the progress of the lower structure with guns in place. Upper structure with funnels has begun and the larger 12 inch guns have been started. Photo 2 shows more progress on the superstructure. Photo 3 shows the superstructure in place. Mike |

Seems like along time ago when I started this and I have taken it about as far as I can. The 1:700 sclae is a challenge to say the least.
In Photo 1, the 12 inch guns have been added and the remaining part of the suprestructure is in place. Photo 2 is an update with some of the tiny pieces added to the deck. Photo 3 is the beginning of the masting. Photos 4 and 5 are the finished product. Sorry about the shadows created by the masts but that's why I'm not a photographer! Mike |
