I don't know what scale the original ship was, but mine is 19" long. So the original model must be about 10" long. I'm not saying the ship is not in scale, just that the finished model was overall too small for my likeings. I increased the print by 200%.

Very happy memories of my many visits to the Cutty Sark with my late father I'm so glad they have managed to restore her after the terrible fire that threatened to destroy her forever.Beautiful build of a lovely lovely ship and of course she is also a memorial to the men of the Merchant Navy who served and who were lost during the wars.

Nice work, Jon. I wouldn't have wanted to try that much rigging on a 10" model, myself. It's a lot easier on the eyes and fingers to scale up a bit, for sure.

Yes, I suppose none of the Canon ships have rigging directions. I was just comparing yours to the photo at the Creative Park site and it really does improve on it.

Probably each sail had it's own locker. About numbers, remember that most of the sailors couldn't read or ever sign.
But yes, it's intriguing how they stored all the sails and if they had reinforced ones for bad weather or just used the lower ones to prevent capsizing

Hi,

A very nice upgrade a good model and a nice subject!
As to scale: original is listed as 212' hull length 280' overall
19" = 1/133 if that is the hull or 1/177 if overall length.

George
