USS Monitor 1:250 Beta Build e-cardmodels.com
I've started the build of APA-168's 1:250 scale USS Monitor. It will be available from www.ecardmodels.com for $6.00 in the near future with three different version. I'm building her "as sunk".
I've got the first sheet (there will be three) and have started on the hull. I looked and the sides of the hull are about 2mm tall, so I printed the sheet out on regular paper and cardstock. I laminated the deck and the bottom to 1mm cardboard and then glued them together. One nice thing is that the hull sides are too long so I could get a perfect fit just by trimming. Much better than being a supposed exact fit and winding up too short as I've encountered on some other kits. I can't figure out where some of the rest of the parts go, so I'm waiting for more instruction and will continue shortly. I really like ironclads, so I'm looking forward to finishing this one.

Good beginning, Jim. Very clean and ship shape.

Looks like an interesting project. My guess is it will not take too long since the Monitor was an uncomplicated vessel, compared with those that came later. Looking forward to your updates.

Well, sorry guys, but I lost the CAD files in a recent computer crash, the PDF files are safe, but no instructions! So I have to at least partially redo the CADs. So the release date is now early January. Sorry! I tried to make it earlier, but I've been very busy of late.

The hull will wait for as long as it takes. So far it's shaping up into a really nice little model!

Sorry to hear you lost some info, as if it isn't time consuming enough? That happened to me with the fg S-38, had to redo with what was left..kindof frightening, thankfully memory backup is cheaper and easier these days for the most part.
