Schreiber-Bogen Binnenschiff (Barge) 1:100 Scale
Time for a boat build:
I've a bit of a thing for working boats. This type of barge is often seen on the the european inland waterways transporting bulk cargoes. Sometimes carrying the family car on its cabin roof The kit itself consistes of six pages of parts. Conveniently all the parts that need laminating to 1mm card are all on the same two pages. Tim |

Some progress has been made:
Parts are going together well. Just a matter of waiting for glue to dry then fixing on next bit Tim |

I didn't realise that these kits built into such a large model. I'm tempted to get one myself now....
I laminate using spray adhesive (like that used for fixing carpet) and find it works well. What do you use Tim? Nice start, by the way! |

I'm glad to see you applying your superlative skill to a ship, Tim.
It looks terrific so far. Is there a 1/100 tug in the works, or did I miss one of your previous builds? What is the time period of this binnenschiff? Don |

I have already built the Schreiber 1:00 scale tug. The build thread was a while ago now. I think the model is fairly current. I remember seeing them in Belgium as a youngster. And certainly more recently on the Mosel in Germany Tim |

Hull is skinned:
The hull skinning went okay with no major problems. The skins come in four sections; front, middle and two for the rear. I spent a week carefully forming the parts before glueing them on. The main centre section has two of its edges crenelated, which does help hide the join a bit. Tim |

Hello Tim . . . looks very good.
When I first saw the images, I thought you installed individual plates. But then I read that you installed it all in four sections. I have wondered about building a hull with individual plates, having an appearance like yours, but it is an experiment I have not gotten to yet. It would be quite a bit more work, and the underlying framework would need to accomodate it. The printing on your hull gives it an excellent look. Mike |
