Excellent quality for a first build! My first build was a 1/72 RFC SE5A from World War I. Sadly it met a fate that involved water and my five year old. Oh well, I just had to print more!

Depth-charge and some guns

Hi Herky, thanks for the info. I already googled her and the ship looks very nice.

Hi Doug: thanks. For a rookie it is not so bad. I now the feeling.

Did some more on the ship. Fixed a first depth-charge instalation afterwards. The little crane is made from brass? Furthermore glued the rest of the 12,7 mm machineguns anf finished the last 127 mm on the A location.

For some reason the pics are from poor quality. Next time better I hope.

At this moment I am bussy with one of the life boats.

Ciao Andrew

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the kind words .Don't worry. The build of the Van Galen gives me enough satisfaction, so I ordered HMS Matabele already as my next build. I keep it with destroyers until I have enough skils to build Hr. Ms. De Ruyter or HMAS Sydney in 1:200.

Ciao Andrew

Hi Andrew,

very nice build.
I like the Admiralen class destroyers of the Dutch Navy.
If i remember correctly, these ships were the only destroyers, which ever carried an aircraft.

Two years ago i started the Evertsen in 1:250 from answer. But i never went further than the hull, because i destroyed the unfinished model by accident ... arrgh

Rgds
Peter

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the fine words. I also think that they where the only destroyers that carries an aircraft aboard. That is also a reason why I bhought this model to start with papermodeling. An other reason is that they where stationed in the Dutch East Indies where my mother was born.

I think that I have read your report about the Hr. Ms. Evertsen at the German forum Kartonbau.de or Kartonist.de. Hopefully you will start in the future a new attempt with a new Hr. Ms. Evertsen. As you already told, it are beautiful ships build in the pernod between WW I and WW II .

Ciao Andrew

Hi fellow modelers,

Just a small update. At the moment I am bussy with detailling the bridge. Put some railing on the upper deck, construction of the rangefinder and the radio antenna.

Today I also received from Germany a nice package with 3 bar railings and the booklet with HMS Matabele from Answer. If you like it I can show HMS Matabele in the Freshly Unpacked section.

Cheers Andrew
