Syllingar at Burghead
I have recently built my first ship for Burghead. It is 1/150 scale . I got my plans off the internet when I did a search for pictures of the ship on Google Images. I have still to fit handrails to it. They will be built from brass wire and assembled with solder. I havent had much success using thread and superglue, but I am working on it. I downloaded several ships from paper modelling websites and used the same methods of construction when building it. The ship sailed to the Shetland Isles from Scotland but was not a success as cars had to be winched aboard by crane. It was replaced by a roll on roll of ferry after a couple of years in service. Here are some photographs I have posed on a mock up of the quay. The buildings are shown in railway related builds. I hope to finish of more ships over the next few days.

She wasn't a close relation to the RMV Scilonian was she?
Oh she was the Scilonian Scillonian (1955) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Good to see another iteration of this fine vessel in paper. I have built the Paper Ship Yard model and have D. H. Deason book on "Card Engineering" which has plans for a floating working model. Great work! D |

Wonderful model and diorama. I love these small cargo and passenger ships of the break bulk pre-modular cargo days.

Syllingar
It was the Scillonian II. I got the plans of a website called Hearts of Oak which gave details of all its owners and change of names. I also used another site called Ship Nostalgia for more pics. I will post details of how I made the water in a future blog.
