IJN Kitakami torpedo cruiser
Hi
I would like to present You my newest model, japanese torpedo cruiser Kitakami from Answer.Scale 1/200. The construction took me a one year. Model is most detailed, I added a lot of details, and many of them were corrected, based on existing documents. During gluing I used the laser-cut components like skeleton and small details. I used also metal items like the barrel, railings. Torpedo tubes, the main weapon that cruiser were most detailed and almost ale similar to real tubes. I based on Gakken no 32 where that tubes are described and that item has very detailed pictures of it.

That's a great build, George!! I also have Kitakami in my stash and would be very interested if you have any build pictures or notes to share; and also interested in the sources for your metal detail parts e.g. the torpedo tubes. I agree that they are a most prominent part of the ship and I don't think that the paper parts supplied do them justice...

It's a masterpiece George
She's a very interesting ship. It's scary to think what "might have been" had she been involved with naval battles in the Solomons. I too have this one in my pile. I agree with Simon, I'd love to see construction photos. russ...

This is an absolutely superb model, George!
Russ's comment about the problems this ship could have caused in the Solomons battle is right on target (so to speak). At the time of those battles, the Long Lance torpedos from Japanese surface ships did an enormous amount of damage, and the American naval commanders of the time assumed that the U.S. ships has been sunk by submarines. A broadside from Kitakami would have been devastating. As near as I can tell, you have captured every detail of this most interesting warship. Don |

The all construction process of that model is included on the Konradus page.
There are all gluing process from beginning to the end, and cover also final gallery of Kitakami. Although the relation is in Polish, however, there's a lot of pictures. I will try show You in the next posts , maybe not the whole process of construction, but some important elements and equipment that cruiser. And now I am adding more photos of the finished model, showing the details of the equipment.
