Great idea for making tapered masts! Do you start with a wooden dowel, bamboo skewer, or what?

I'm really loving all the wonky planking. So realistic, unlike most models that are in absolutely pristine condition. One thing I find wrong with most antique subjects, especially old houses, is the straight roofs and square walls. Real old houses all suffer quite obvious warping, as do wooden ships. Not so obvious perhaps, but metal ships just don't have straight sides after their maiden voyages either. Mother Nature is a strong and often vicious sculptor

today i made the rudder and the railing, in junk the rudder is hanging by
ropes and no pintle , so two ropes fix the rudder from the top of the ship to the rudder,we call that "勒肚索" |
