how to choose between publishers

i am from mumbai-india. presently at -read and acquire knowledge stage.
i am not sure if this is the right place, if not please tell me.
while searching for model to purchase, came across -hms alert -by shipyard . lovely model. i wish further information about it..
1)on shipyard site it is offered at 88 euros
2)on kartonmodellshop-de it is offered at 35 euros and the note says-offering nearly shipyard quality
what i wish to know is--that the difference in the price is only for the quality of the model offered or are there any other issues involved.
if somebody can offer advise regarding , what points to consider while making a choice, is much appreciated. regards-pravin

Shipyard makes two models of the HMS Alert one is in 1/72 scale and is a laser cut kit I have not seen this kit but I would assume that is similar too a typical wood kit except that the parts are paper. The other kit is in 1/96 scale and is a typical paper model. I am not sure on this but I believe the two models are rigged differently.
In general Shipyard kits are well done but as a former wood ship modeler it is very obvious that Shipyards photos of the completed models have a lot of scratch built details that appear to be wood. I have two of the Shipyard models but I have not built them. Looking over the construction drawings I would build the masts and yards out of wood. I would also make the blocks for the rigging out of wood. Simply because I think that paper masts and yards would not hold the tension of the rigging and would also look better than the paper ones. I would consider both models as being advanced models and not a good choice for your first paper model. If you have experience building a wood ship model then you will find the Shipyard kits to easy to build.
