Detailing the build
Ahoy
The fun has begun adding the details reviewing the plans i have obtained through the Floating Drydock and Delivery they are the same as the kit the kit represents the vessel as she was launched and served durring the first world War, After the war like all other vessels of this nature have went through different refit updates after the war she had two boat booms instead of one. Starting at the bow I added the chains and the chain locker pipes turret No.1 was added next i will start on the turret No.2 and then other details, Here is the update for now i will post another this evening sometime. Great work
Hey Skipper, she's looking might fine thus far, love those chains - gives a real sense of strength and power required to haul the anchors back up. The detailing on the decks is excellent, i know you have lots more to do along the way. You certainly have "turned two" on this beauty

A Hardy Thank you for your reply she is indeed coming along swiftly not much to this build I should have the forward section of the hull completed tomorrow and then the forward superstructure details and the ships jolly boats and so on. I can see how our naval artitechs got their designs from looking at the Iron Duke it reminds me of the Arizona. I only wished this kit wasn,t so difficult between the instructions and the fit of parts is something to desire.. I guess threw the forum members that their is a updated kit I am wondering how it goes trogether. I have the Arizona 1/200 scale by this company looks like its updated with the treatment of the instructions and the corect coloring of the printing it looks tempting to build I might give it a go after I get the Duke Done Thank you as always my son for the replies they are treasured in my thoughts. On the update build report i have constructed the turret No. 1 and 2 instead of turning the barrels on my lathe i went ahead and rolled the barrels from the kit they dont look to bad it works for me, as to their construction no fit issyes at all looks like the hard stuff is over with, Tomorrow I will finish up the bow and then go to the forward superstructure unit and the shipsd boats.

This model has a superb sense of weight. It just . . . . looks big, bulky, and heavy.
It never ceases to amaze me how a poor portrayal of a subject can miss the mark entirely and look bad no matter how much care was taken, but a skillful portrayal can impart an impression of bulk and mass even when made from so light a material as paper. Bravo Mister Boats, Bravo! vbsargent |
