Jim,
models at larger scales are a lot of fun... lots of cool stuff you can do with a little more size to work with

Hi Kentyler.
You are right, have already been contemplating some in scale mods. We'll see when I get to that point.

Great start! (well, looks like more than a start to me! ) It looks to be a nice clean build. The skins look great!

Well the Type VIIC was the workhorse of the Kriegsmarine. More VIIs were built than any other u-boat, with 568 commissioned.

Looks like UHU02 and U-don both modeled the earlier VIIC, with the 88mm deck gun and single barrelled machinegun in the wintergarten. Kooklik's is a late variant VIIC built in 1944-1945 with snorkel and inlarged wintergarten with a twin barrelled machine gun/aa gun.

All three look beatiful! I have Kooklik's and UHU02's, now it looks like I might have to get U-don's as well! Hmmm then it iwll be three to one against a 1/72 scale Wickes class destroyer!

Thanks Vbsargent.

Looks a little one sided to me.

Tonight's update.

More panels where added today. I think that tomorrow the main hull will be enclosed. This is my first larger ship and I know the panels could be better, but am learning and will improve as I go along.

So this is where she stands tonight.

She's looking great. Skins look fine.
At that scale, how long is it?

Tonight's update.
Was able to finish the last of the skins on the main hull today. Though I had to modify the procedure for the last skin. It was not going to fit right with installing the stern torpedo tube last, just too awkward. Easier to install the torpedo tube first, then trim and fit the last skin.

The first frame shows the stern torpedo tube shaped, but just placed in position.
The 2nd & 3rd frame is the shaped water tight door for the stern tube.
The 4th & 5th frame are the completed Stern tube and door with the 6th frame the completed stern.
The last is the ship as she stands tonight.

Thought I would give an early update.
Was able to lay the decking this morning.
Ran into one problem, the aft section of deck plate was 1/8" too short.
Using a reprint of that sheet cut a section of plate to fill the difference, before the last section. I don't think it cam out too bad.
I'm so glad to see her with the decking on.

On to the next section.

Looking fine, Papermodder. Doesn't having the deck on really make it feel like a real boat?
You _are_ moving right along on this.

I know it's down the road but have you given any though as to how you'll handle the railings?
