Yeah, those are another set of rangefinders, possibly for when engaging multiple targets. The '42 version has them too.

On with the Build, was away for a fortnight in Germany, visited the Kartonbau meeting in Deutsches Schiffahrt Museum,Bremerhaven lots of fine Models and fine people, well all Cardbuilders are.Now building the 20 mm and 52mm Guns.20 mm Bofors are simple in the kit, just flat,so made a sketch to build them from scratch, hope the photo's explain. The 52 mm Guns are build according the kit but with some added extra's like doors, storage boxes, stairs and the stand for the gun commander. Then the 150 mm Rangefinder,in the kit a flat object, so I made a sketch and a picture from the parts one can use to build one in 3D.Hope the pictures explain. If not just ask.Jos.

Good evening, Jos!
My compliments for your extraordinary work at these reprints of old (or should I better say: venerable) Veritas-Cardmodels. I admire your additional construction of rangefinders, 3-dimensional AA guns etc. that enhances the model very much. As I have both series (the 1950ies original and the 2012 reprint) of the cruiser and the B-Jagers, I'm fully aware what you've achieved here. Surely I'll follow your report with great attention. Kind regards,- Papercaptain |

A litle bit further on with the build, now for some small details like the 40 mm (Danke, Herr Kapitan)Rangefinders and the saluteguns. Both items are not in the kit so they are build from leftovers as will be shown on the Picture's.And finaly a Picture from these parts aboard.
Till later,Jos |

On with the build, now for some details, most of them are not in the Kit.
The Crane is an LC part, there is a simple form and a complicated one.I used the simple form for the engine and the cables so I cut of the underside of the boom ,placed it on a round platform and then glued the 2 remaining parts to it,gives a great crane. On the rear deck I placed the Depthcharges Rack, made from leftover railing parts and rolled paper. The bollards are made from very small pins, the life rafts are in the LC set just made a rack for those, the screw protector is made from sprue and the air intake's or smoke generators(don't know exactly wat these are?)are made from rolled paper.Supports for A -deck are double paper.Hope the pictures show all. Regards Jos. |
