Ah, Simplyred, no problem to give name and brand. If you look at my avatar, you'll notice that the Super Constellation wing has the light blue KLM decoration on the engines. So, I'm Dutch, and I would be interested in the brand you're using.
The Super Connie flies over the Braassemermeer, on finals to Schiphol, by the way... |

Quote:
Brand: Epanol "Universele Grondverf" (= "Universal Primer") "Sneldrogende Acrylaat Grondverf" (= "Fast Drying Acrylic Primer") That's all the tin says. Your local paint reseller should be able to help you with this. |

First layer of varnish applied. This already changes the look of the diorama.

Today I applied the last layer of varnish. Which means: model completed!
After so many years, that provides a good feeling and a nice model to showcase. Next, I am considering to start the build of one of the small torpedo-destroyers that also were deployed to the Dutch East-Indies during WW2. I am thinking about either the Hr.Ms. Evertsen, or the Hr.Ms. Van Galen, also scale 1/250. In the end, I might end up with a multiple ship diorama about the Battle at Java Sea, where the De Ruyter sunk, with rear-admiral Karel Doorman on board. Well, this concludes my build thread of the Hr.Ms. De Ruyter. It was my first build, quite a challenge, but fun to do and with for me a satisfying result! Thanks for reading my thread, and for all of your tips and comments! |

Hi Simplyred, very nicely done. Would indeed be great if you continue with the other Dutch ships that took part in the Java Sea battle in February 1942. A bloody shame that the wrecks have been removed from the sea bottom by respectless moneymakers.
It's hard to see from scon10's avatar but if it's indeed the Braassemermeer - quite an honour. I live in Roelofarendsveen, which is right on the border of "Brass Lake". Cheers, Erik |

The picture I used in my avatar is from an old thread, perhaps 5 or 6 years ago, on the building of the Super Constellation from scratch. I think you'll find it by clicking my avatar, and then opening Thread starts.
Anyway, the foreground is a picture of the model by Emsco, a 1950's model and the background is a real photo of the Braassemer lake, when on finals to Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. The Super Connie flying in formation is a model in scale 1:50 scratch-build from balsa wooden formers and longerons and covered with paper panels. The picture is composed with Paint Shop Pro. |

Amazing picture scon10, the perspective is very realistic! The lake is the Westeinder Plassen though .
