Andrew, Thank you. I've been following your great builds and they have helped me a lot.

Finally tried to complete the hull. I wasn't accurate enough in either my cutting, gluing or whatever to make the bow fit as it should . I ended up having to make some new pieces to fit things together and am satisfied that I did my best to correct the problem. With the hull done, I am starting to work on the deckwork.

My only thought here was...should I have started with the bow and worked toward the stern? I may have had a little more flexibility in how things fit together.

Photos of the hull and some updates on the deck work that I've been working on at the same time.

You shouldn't be so hard on yourself...the bow looks great! They are a pain, that's for sure!

In my limited paper experience I've found that doing the bow and stern first leaves the middle for fitting. Those middle fits are a lot easier than bow and stern.

Russ, thanks for the compliment. Much appreciated.

Christian, thanks for the tip. That seems like sound advice.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I find every model is a learining experience.

I generally start at the front end and work back, where it's easier to hide things.

There is nothing to say it's not the kits fault.

Tim, thanks for the kind words but if the truth be told...it's the skills of this modeler that caused the problem. Wish I could foist the blame somewhere but no such luck.

Lately, I've been working on the small deck pieces...slow progress and the pieces are really tiny. I added the anchors, some bollards and a few hatches. Currently working on bulwarks near the guns.

Continue to work on some of the small deck parts before adding the superstructure. Finished the bulwarks fore and aft, the bollards, cleats, added the spar deck and the 102mm ammunition storage cabinets.
I continue to add to the superstructure which is to be mounted shortly.

Hello Sander,

Your ship is already looking impressive with all those bulwarks, bollards and cleats mounted. I also like dteh details the ship has.

Ciao Andrew

Thanks Andrew...that small stuff takes a while but it sure adds up to making an interesting model.

Finally, a major task completed. Got the bridge superstructure together and added to the hull. Had a few alignment problems but, for the most part, things ended up okay.

Next step is the funnel and soon the firepower.
