Contre torpilleur Kersaint 1:200 WAK

Hello guys,

Here I will start my thread about the French WWII destroyer Kersaint. It's a kit from WAK and the scale is 1:200. More than 2000 parts . I will use the laser cut parts for the hull and structure and ordered also the metal barrels for it. As I have some problems with the Matabele at the moment I will make a start already with the Kersaint and will build on both ships.

Ciao Andrew

Looks a nice kit. Are you building her with a full hull?

I love those big French destroyers and look forward to seeing your build.

I have this kit, although I doubt that I will ever attempt to build it. But I can enjoy watching you build yours.

Hello guys,

Thanks for your enthousiast reactions. This one will be a real challenge,so fingers crossed. Tim: I will build her full hull. I still want to try a nice and clean hull, so I must keep practising. Don: I like these destroyers to and that was the reason to start Kersaint. Especially the four funnels are typical for these destroyers.

Working on the hull

Hello fellow modellers,

I started with the standard of the ship. It looks nice. My Polish isn't that good, but we can undertand that it is a ship of the Vauquelin class is .

Fot the hull and superstructure there are 4 laser cut parts. Fitting of those parts is excellent and within 2 hours I had an idea of the size of the model. Well, it is a big one if I put her next to the Matabele. This time I didn't forget to paint the inside of the hull were the anchors and chains are placed.

That's for now.

Ciao Andrew

Hello Don and Rick,

Thanks for the kind words. I finished the basic hull and had some problems with getting the stern in shape. In general I am satisfied withe the hull when I look back to the builds of Van Galen and Matabele. It's still amazing what a big destroyer this is. At this moment I try to complete the underwatership with the shafts and proppelors.

More to come.

Ciao Andrew
