Well, I'm building this boat as a tribute to my Grandpa, and as he was 7 when he sailed on Ivernia, I doubt he was counting rivets, or poles. So I suppose it can stay.

The air vents, though, I'm still not satisfied with them. Probably going to try them again.

The lower decks are glued together, and the stern half is covered. I put straws into the mast holes to ensure they were aligned during construction. I also added a piece of colored paper over the bow, just in case the sides don't perfectly cover it up.

The masts have a cutout through the skeleton, as seen in the first pic. To ensure the mast stays aligned correctly once the skin is completely attached, I covered the sides with scrap cardboard, seen in the second pic. You can also see I reinforced the ribs by gluing scrap receipt paper to the joints. Walmart encourages recycling, so it's appropriate to use their receipt paper.

The hull plating is done, and the decks attached. Now to attach all those greebles: lifeboats, bollards, etc., and of course, those air vents. That cardboard rectangle next to the stern are the wire lifeboat davits, taped down and painted white.

Been a while since I updated. A lot going on in my life right now.
Since last post, the lifeboats are installed, with a couple of the davits. Also the promenade columns are installed, and the air vents on the stern.

It's been 1 1/2 years since the last post, definitely time to wrap up this post. I finished Ivernia around Christmas 2013, but my camera broke shortly after the last post, and my old TracPhone takes lousy pics. My wife recently got a Galaxy phone, so we can take pics again. Anyway, here's the completed 1/200 Ivernia, alongside the current build, 1/250 Mauretania, which is about 85% completed. Ivernia was 1/400, but enlarged to 1/200 beautifully. Thank you Kryz, for a great model.

smart idea doing bollards on bases.will try it in future

Thanks Herky. And I did end up rebuilding all the vents. I'm happy with how they turned out.
