American Civil War naval wargame rules

Mods, if this thread is inappropriate or in the wrong place, please move or remove.

For those of you who like to use your paper ironclads as miniatures in wargames, there is Kickstarter project to bring a very detailed set of rules to your iPad and/or Android device. The rules are "The Ironclads" by Yaquinto, which as I understand it was a very detailed set of rules that took some effort to work through, but the intended app would do away with those pesky chart searches. I have never used the rules, but the reviews seem very positive (except for all the chart looking). Anyway, here's the website for more info:

The Ironclads App by Toby Barrett — Kickstarter

I have no connection with this project other than an interest in its subject. I chanced upon the announcement on another website and though it looked promising. Oh, and I made a pledge while I was at it...

There is a lot of information about the original "Ironclads" game on Board Game Geek:
Ironclads | Board Game | BoardGameGeek
The Ironclads family | Ironclads | BoardGameGeek

The original games can sometimes be found on Ebay:
ironclads | eBay

There are some ironclad models by CT Ertz and others in our downloads.
I assume that the DVD of Ironclad models may still be available from CT Ertz (contact him to be certain).

I played the original "Ironclads" game in college with some wargaming buddies. (We also did miniatures involving 1:1200 scale models.) The game play was ok, but the basic problem was that either both sides had to have ironclads or both sides couldn't be allowed any. Any ironclad unopposed was devastating to everyone else on the board. Our biggest complaint was the lack of units other than the primary focus of the game. ISTR that the game also included the ability to play the battle of Lissa as well as ACW stuff.

A later expansion set allowed for non ACW navies. I still have both.
