OK, guys. Just so you know. Joe is working on this with out much for directions! I never got the parts numbered or all of the diagrams done. High on my to do list though!
Great build so far! I also need to get Joe the masts, although they can be made from wood. I think on this scale paper could work well though. Oh, and the display base. Thanks Joe for your hard work! CT

The silver/tin stuff is the stove pipe, and there should be a spot for it between the short pilot house and the sun roof/green house looking thing. (That's expert nautical language.)
The wood color thingy is the fore (and aft) anti-boarding net pole. I know that in the picture I have them straight but they should be tipped out slightly. I hope that helps. Thanks for this build, CT

I like the combine look of this vessel . . . with the sails and the side-paddles.
A true sail-mechanical age hybrid. Looking forward to more images Joe. Mike |

I think the USS Cimarron was schooner rigged for sail. Because the Civil War was mostly a coastal war for the Union navy. many sail rigged steam ships simply stored their sails below, using the masts for look outs only. However, the Cimarron seems to have kept the sails rigged up and used on occasion if the drawing of her at Charleston is accurate.
I love the look. Sails. Steam. Double ended. Short brush poppers and heavy guns. Capable of open ocean travel or river work! This boat was versatile! I echo everyone else in saying I look forward to more images from Joe's build. It is exciting! CT
