Interesting subject. This site has some basic drawings of the initial configuration:
http://www.concretebattleship.org/

But I couldn't find anything about the buildings on it that were added later...

I think there was a second "re-inforced island" in the area, but I can't remember the name. I don't think it was corregidor....

Fascinating subject! Never heard of this but I'd find a paper model most tempting.

Wish I could remember the title of the book or the author's name but I used to have a book on fortifications that had a good line drawing of Ft Drum and some photos of it's constrution. I had a lattice or basket mast, soc=me barracks on the top deck, and two 8 in cannons (if I remeber right) in casemates on the sides for local defense. May have had AA guns added between the wars but not sure about that.

I believe there were four fortified islands at the entrance to Manila Bay- Fort Hughes (Cabello Island), Fort Frank (Carabao Island), Fort Drum (El Faile Island) and Fort Mills (Corregador Island). El Fraile was the smallest and completely encased in concrete 30 feet thick to ecome Fort Drum. The rest of the islands had more conventional coastal defences-large mortar, gun and naval rifle batteries in concrete emplacements.

I visited Corregadore two days ago. it was a stunning and sobering experience.

thanks, erik

There is a book about Ft. Drum and other fortifications in that area written by Francis J. Allen. The title is "The Concrete Battleship: Fort Drum, El Fraile Island, Manila Bay" and it's available at Amazon.com for only $8.50.

Hello,

While not directly related to the topic at hand, here are a few pictures we took of a Concrete Coaster at Rostock Germany earlier this year at the Schiffbau und Schifffahrtsmuseum: Schiffbau- und Schifffahrtsmuseum 2013 - a set on Flickr

You have an interesting project that I look forward to following.

Kind Regards,

Cris

Well, a few photos of the 1/350 resin kit parts will help if anyone think in doind a papermodel.

ModelWarships.com - Blue Ridge Models 1/350 Fort Drum

The photoetched and instructions scans will be helpfull, they aren't available on the company website/store.
