The Edmund Fitzgerald

One of the models I've always wanted to do has been the Mighty Fitz (okay, technically I've always wanted to design a model of the titanic, but honestly, who could beat Mr. Currel's work?). I think my skills are currently "good" enough where I can make a mediocre pass at the vessel. So, here goes.

Currently drawn up the hull; not much else as of right now. Might include a base/stand seeing as that's becoming the norm for me.

I wish you well with your Edmund Fitzgerald.
Looking forward to your updates.
What scale will you use?
Mike

Thanks!
I aim to make her around 1:500 scale when completed.

This is actually going by pretty quickly...as compared to the Tripod I just did which took a little over two months compared to the 24 hours for this.

When we lived in Northern Wisconsin, we heard a lot about the story of the Fitz. The Fitz's bell is in the Whitefish Point Museum in northern Michigan. Eerie to see, along with the twisted lifeboat they found. Great job so far Bryan.

Must be pretty insane to see a relic from a fallen giant of the Fritz. Even just looking at photos of her before the sinking is just surreal. Kinda shows how you never know when or where disaster will strike.

Alright, so the model comes with a very generic loading dock base:

"Infoplates" are a good way to practice graphic design I've found out...

PDF's compiled! Testbuild will be tomorrow; for now I'm gonna get some much-needed sleep.

I live in Cleveland, near Lorain, which was the Fitz' destination on her final voyage. I was in grade school when she sank, and still remember it well. Several of her crew were from the Cleveland area. I've seen the great Lakers my whole life, and would love to build a model of the Fitzgerald.

Thanks, Erik

Ohkay, dock's done:

The hull was the scariest part for me; glad it came out better than expected!
