Thanks for your replies, Peter and Miles.

Miles, the mast is indeed a skewer, I don't know if it is bamboo or not. But it isn't sanded in shape yet, it is just cut off at a certain length.

As for the scale, this is the original scale the model was designed in, alltough I agree it is a bit off with my Titanic build. But since it isn't going to be in the same diorama, I figured it didn't matter. Perhaps I might build it again once in 1:200.

S.S. Nomadic in 1:250 Scale

Hi Jerry,

You are making excellent progress with the SS Nomadic! Very nice. I like the bamboo skewer mast.

Did you know that you can order a printed 'one-off' model from David Hathaway in 1:200 scale? He makes them to order if you e-mail him and ask -
I got one, which I started to build (now an interrupted build thread).

Good luck with the continued build!
/ Bengt

Just a small step today,

Added some small details like the rubbing strakes alongside the hull and the fenders at the bow and stern as can be seen in the left top corner.

Prepared some smaller parts like the companionways capstans at the stern and anchors anchors at the bow for building.
Also constructed the steeringgear cover to be put on the stern.

Great work on this model. I love to see Paper Shipwright models being assembled. Hope to build this one myself some day and will make use of your excellent narrative and images.

S.S. Nomadic 1:250 scale

Hi Jerry,

It's great to see that you are continuing your fine build of the 1:250 scale SS Nomadic! My 1:200 scale build of the same ship is in a shoe box at the moment (I have too many other activities going), but I am inspired to take it up now.

All the best to you from Stockholm,
Bengt

Thanks for the replies so far, well slowly continueing this build as well.
Just a small step today. I build some stairs to be added at the stern.
Also I build the small parts to be added at the stern deck.
These were some very small parts. I had to work my way around using two needles.
The parts were to small to handle with only my fingers.

The measures on the cuttingmat are in centimeters, to give an idea of the size

While building I noticed there were two parts being numbered 41A, but only one was mentioned in the manual for building the bollard. So I omitted the white circle and continued on building this part.

Enough small parts for today..

With regards,

Jerry

Well, here we go, some more fidley parts installed on the bow and stern.
Also the manual mentioned the bollards should be constructed out of parts 44.
It might be me, but I couldn't find part 44. Since these would be very small as well. I first skipped this part and continued building the hatches:

I also installed the stairs at the stern, I had thought about cutting off the rails since they were to small to cut out. But I didn't really like them closed up. But I decided to leave them the way they were

That's enough small parts for today..

With regards,

Jerry

Building the Windlass

Today I had build the anchor windlass.
At least that what I tried to do. It was build out of very tiny parts.
Some attention needs to be paid to the numbering of the parts and instructions.

The parts is build up out of parts 48. Altough the instruction drawings label them as part 44.

Also the side windlasses are build out of part I and J, but there are two parts numbered as J. At the mid back of the windlass a construction would be build out of parts G and H. But I couldn't figure out how to do so. If one of you knows how to do so, feel free to do so.

See the attached images;

With regards,

Jerry
