Spectacular build. Thanks for allowing us to drool at your work.
One day I may be half this good.

Hello Friends,
As always, I am grateful for your kind words and praise! Thank you so very much! The mast was a lot of fun to recreate and was my favorite part of the model. Here I have mated the mast support to the super structure and the upper mast assembly to the whole. Best Regards, Cris |

Hello,
I have completed the mast assembly with the installation of the two radars. I have also installed the "Meter-Amp" Antenna and completed the rigging of the mast and signal yards. I have also installed the ladders, railings and a few other details like life preservers. With the addition of a few more aerials, whips and the air vents this element of the model is complete. About 85% is scratch built and I estimate I have added some 400 parts to the model so far. The "Tango" flying from the Starboard yard is the international signal for "I am trawling, keep clear." It appears that you have produced a completely accurate bridge structure with all of the gear and rigging - not to mention the appropriate signal flag.

Hello Chris. It's so nice to see you posting here in the fourm again. I really enjoy looking at your highly detailed models. Your Trawler is no exception.

Hello Friends,
Thank you again for your kind words and interest. I really enjoy detailing models and the research that goes along with it. These MDK vessels similar to JSC, are perfect for that. I am pleased to be posting again, the last few months have been very busy work wise and I nearly lost my knife finger callous! So, now that the Superstructure is complete, I have made a small base and after painting it, covered it with a thin layer of silicon. Best Regards, Cris |

Hello Again,
Before we continue, I wanted to share some interesting pictures I came across while researching. The first four are of a Klasse 464 rotting in an icebound harbor in Russia. Several of the others, I have obtained from the BRUNO APITZ website: Fischfang Rostock - ROS 338- Startseite Its interesting that the original paint scheme was as depicted in this model, light grey hulls/yellow super structure circa 1970. Later, they were painted with black hulls/white superstructure. Kind Regards, Cris Last edited by Hi-Torque; 06-06-2013 at 02:50 AM. |

Hello Friends,
Now we can start on the three loading derricks and booms. Like the masts, they lack a substantial amount of detail that we can easily add. Best Regards, Cris |

Hello Friends,
Here is some progress on the derricks and booms. Along with adding the appropriate access platforms and ladders, I have reworked the aft derrick to more accurately portray the position of its booms. On the forward derrick I have added a scratch built search light and position light mast. On all of the derricks I have added work lights, pulleys and tackle as appropriate. Finally, I have taken the flat representation of the booms provided in the kit and replaced them with rolled cylinders. Kind Regards, Cris |

Hello Again,
Here I have begun installing the derricks and rigging the forward most to the superstructure. The mid derrick is also installed. Best Regards, Cris |
