Ship odds and ends and dreams

Winter is here with a vengence and the old hands start to complain but I can still push a mouse. My old friend John Bowden offered to create another of his flight decks for me, so I could not resist trying the Big E anyway. It looked straightforward at first but I can assure you it is not. Luckily I have a wealth of pictures from an 18' model to refer to.

If anyone has a pic of the hull side under the tower it would be appreciated.

It will be 1/300 no way can I fit in a 1/200 even then it is a bit big got to be a laugh though.

Always have to have 3 or 4 jobs going at once butterfly syndrome the hull is the easy bit on this one. The top hamper is ridiculous.

Barry I can't see any carrier being easy, really must be a challenge of immense (Tarawa) proportions

Now how about a Kaga in the pre-modernized version? You get two flight decks that way<g>

All your builds are wonderful, Barry, but I must admit that I am partial to the pre-1945 ships.

The early Kaga would be an incredible model with all the funnel piping and scaffolding and multiple decks and a bunch of biplanes. The wartime U.S. Navy Intelligence manual on Japanese ship recognition had some line about the back end of a Japanese carrier looking "like a Nagasaki slum." Go Kaga! Banzai!

But to get back on topic, your images of the modern Enterprise are impressive and I am sure that it will be an excellent model.

Big E is looking good so far, however I'm more interested in the second ship, the Kirov class battlecruiser. Which ship precisely and what scale?

Thanks Glen & Yu

APA

Ship is Kirov before refit and renaming. Scale 1/200

Don & Shrike

No plans and I think it would be beyond my capabilities.

Ah, excellent! My favorite class of modern warship (after the Arleigh Burke and Horizon classes )
