Viking Longship

This model is not of any specific longship, although the hull shape is based on the Skuldelev 2, with the Gokstad Ship providing some references.

Hull:

Deck and...~40 rowing benches

Goodness you've been busy. Is this ship going to be available at your place of employment, also?

Honestly, it all depends on whether or not I have a container big enough in which I can carry the model! But if I don't, it's going to be available on my site regardless

Dear RocketManTan:
What scale are you going for on this project? Looks good so far. Did they or did they not land in the US? or just in Canada?
Thanks for your models,
MILES

The model will be in 1:50 scale, that is, it would have been a ship of 22.5m with 40 oarsmen.

I'm fairly certain the Vikings only landed in Canada, and as much as I would like to believe that trans-atlantic contact was made by the Vikings in mainland US, I can find no substantial evidence.

Viking Longship/ Skuldelev

Interesting...

The dragon head at the stem of the bow is beautifully shaped. I will follow this thread...

Best of luck!
Bengt
