Iranian Navy

Iran launches destroyer: Iran launches a guided-missile destroyer, the Jamaran-2, in the Caspian Sea. Since 1992, Iran has been building a self-sufficient military, reportedly producing its own jet fighters, tanks, missiles and light submarines as well as torpedoes.
Jamaran is the name of a domestically produced Moudge class guided missile frigate . launched in early 2010 in Bandar-e-Abbas, Iran. Iran said that the design and building of Jamaran and the missile boat Paykan were among the greatest achievements of the Iranian Navy and the ship's launch marks a major technological leap for Iran's naval industries. It is the first ship from four in its class. More ships in its class are under construction to be added to the Iranian Naval fleets in the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf soon. The ship is designed for a crew of 140. The Jamaran class combines anti-submarine assets with other systems of weapons capable of dealing with surface and air threats as well.

I think this boat is based on the Vosper Mark 5 class frigate. One forum I looked on suggested it was a baby type 21 type destroyer.

Not sure if there are any paper models of this.

I found a Vosper Mk 10 here. It was modified and built as Brazilian Niteroi class. Not the same ship, but similar.

Hello Parviz!
Vosper also sold one of its designs to Thailand, there's a Thai papercraft designer named Chaiwat Kosatanakom with several 1/700 modern vessels free designs. Maybe one of them is what you are looking for.

Good luck!

Hi Pervisir:
If you want to venture into paper modeling design, I would highly recommend looking at the Vosper Mk 10, Brazilian Niteroi class recommended above. Also, if possible, get the Amazon from Airfix in 1/600 and use the hull as template for your Moudge. The superstructure and the funnel will also help as templates. One way to get the hull is by covering the hull with tape, trace the contour and unfold the template, attaching it to a flat paper (cutting it into flat segments resembling orange peels). For the helicopter you may use one of Bruno.
Happy modeling and designing!!!
Pablo
