Drakkar
Can't remember where I found this (Probably the Papercraft Museum) but it was patiently waiting in my archives for far to long ...
It comes on just two (Very crowded) A4 sheets. Nothing too complicated, but lots of waiting between gluing tabs. Johnny. |

I think it came from that Russian magazine, or from Epinal's now defunct blog, As i have that boat too, but not printed. But it looks fine!

I was thinking it was Czech, not Russian, but I have it, too. Just not sure from where.

Hmmm? Yeah. I do vaguely seem to recall finding it in Toto's blog. A treasure trove now regretfully lost!
It's only two .jpg files though, so if anyone wants a copy, PM me your email address. Johnny. |

you should frame that cutting pad and put it on your wall as a trophy or a badge of honor, and then get a new one to use for cutting.

Nice.
But anchor? what the hell would drakkar use anchor for? I had this question asked to myself when building 1:50 drakkar from revel (omitted the anchor though). So, vikings if traveling in business ("hey girls we need volunteers for reconstruction of the battle...." "are we going to get raped there?" "I dont think so...""if not, we're not going" - authentic discussion at reenactment event xD) would not stop in the middle of the river right? No way to get ashore then. There is no need for anchor in the middle of the ocean (afterall viking discovered America). Moreover... Nazi Germany was not the first to use BlitzKrieg strategy, it actually comes from vikings Silently sailing along the river, get ashore, be quick, plunder, burn & kill & get back quickly & sail away:P PS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGrDHI0orKE |

That style anchor is from a later time period as well.

Common Viking anchor. Plenty of archeology available. Google will turn up information and images. So will books, but who reads anymore!

well I was using real life reference - pics taken at TSR 2013 at Szczecin and couple drakkars that were on display there had no anchor....
